Big Crow is BACK
I would like to start this Newsletter with a quote from one of our greatest supporters of all the restaurants.Â
"One Benefit of Living in this Alternate Universe............It's Back!" Daniel Moneta remarked on his Instagram story.Â
We opened Big Crow last week and Daniel was one of the first to order from us.Of course Daniel was remarking that yes indeed we did Close Big Crow last Fall. As well as Rose and Sons. Closed. Both.Â
In the restaurant's stead we opened a new Concept "The Grand Elvis" in December. Well, the writing was on the wall but we just did not know it yet. The Grand Elvis was spectacular. Very early on it was Voted one of the Best new restaurants in Toronto, Best Burger EVER (thank you jeremy of NYC's Brindle Room Fame) Best Fried Chicken to ever live in this Universe, Best new restaurant in Canada. We were proud, very very proud. Especially Jackie of Of course.Â
So Here we are "Elvis Has Left the Building" "The King is Dead Long Live the King" and so on and so Forth.Â
During my time in Quarantine with my Beautiful son Simon, we cooked a lot. And what was I cooking you ask? I was cooking what I love, what my Mother Cooked when I was a kid, what Bonnie cooked at all her wonderful Friday Night Dinners, Cottage food, Farm Food from Rob, Rustic Food, Familiar Food. Food from my Little Black Heart. All the foods of a lifetime of eating simple deliciousness and especially the foods that make me warm in my soul.Â
COMFORT FOOD! THAT"S WHAT I WAS COOKING.Â
I AM THE KING OF COMFORT FOOD!Â
To be honest I never embraced that Moniker. Never liked it and always thought I and my food was more than that. But, I have come to embrace that now. Come to understand and love and want that to be mine.
So here we are. Big Crow is Back. It is Exactly the same as it used to be. The menu is familiar and delicious and it is all mine.Â
My good friend and Chef Jeremy Gries is Back on the Grill and the Smoker. Jer is the one that started it all so it just seems fit that he brings it back.Â
You can go check out the menu if you want but you probably already know what you want. I know I do. I would start withÂ
Garlic Bread, so crunchy and cheesy and garlicky.Â
Then I would have the Salmon Poke which is no Poke at all but I don't care.Â
Then I'd move on to a JW Bird, slowly grilled to crispy craziness and covered with Salsa Verde. Followed by aÂ
Full rack of Smoked and Grilled Baby Back Ribs with a slather of Pesto on top that has been mixed with Burst Cherry Tomatoes.Â
I WILL NOT FORGET THEÂ CAESAR SALAD!!!! I like it as a side with my meats, plus I just feel that I always need more Garlic here, or anywhere for that matter.Â
Then, mon amis,Â
The S'mores Cake for dessert.Â
I think I am done now but I might even order another Garlic Bread to be on the safe side.Â
You see, I was wrong. The King isn't dead. The King was always Big Crow, I just needed to be reminded of that. Not that Daniel ever forgot.Â

We have a very small patio, you can eat your takeout there with a beer or a bottle of Wine. Maybe, just maybe you could order a feast of Crow to eat with a couple friends there as well.Â
Who knows, we might even bring back the true Phoenix rising from the ashes

Fat Pasha and Fet Zun are now offering the regular menu and also taking reservations for the Patio. Both are doing takeout and it is deliciousness if I do say so myself.Â
Madame Boeuf is going Gangbusters with Takeout and Patio Eats. Thanks to you all.Â
Schmaltz is Schmaltzing away and happy to say we now have Smoked Acadian Sturgeon AND WOLFHEAD IS BACK BABY in splints Double Smoked Glory. You. Are. Very. Welcome.Â
I’d also like to say to all my staff that we appreciate you so much. That we know this isn’t easy. That it’s hard to change and pivot everyday. Thank you so much for trying with us. Means the world.Â
